More snow pictures

The first time I saw Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig's Vixen, there was something about her expression and posture that reminded me of my own spunky little mare. We were fortunate enough to get snow over Christmas and I was able to take a few shots of Sprinkles playing in it. The above picture reminded me very much of the pose on Vixen. Perhaps Vixen is tossing up her tail after dodging a few snowballs thrown in her direction. That was what Sprinkles was doing with my husband - or at least what she was doing before she decided to steal the snowballs and eat them.

That was a few weeks ago, and today we are snowed in once again. It's a good day to work on reorganizing the studio, since potential power outages make me leery of throwing anything valuable in the kiln. (I always worry about color loss when refiring things.) When vital tools - and their duplicates, purchased during previous periods of hiding - go missing, it's time to impose some kind of order on things.

In the meantime, I hope my fellow southerners are enjoying our unusually snowy winter. It's a good opportunity to spend time in a studio - even if it's only cleaning one.

thats cool leslie! love the pose! I have seen our horses move that way too.. more so the morab mare.. but even my appy mare has done that and it makes me think of vixen too every time I see that pose! she really looks pretty in the snow! but yea weather is weird all over it seems we had our winter in november and early december! we had snow before Thanksgiving and in all my life can't ever remember having snow this early on the west side of the mountains! we are lucky to get it by christmas but in november! never! now its really warm.. I didn't even need a coat when I went to town today! yea we got some flooding in areas..not so bad yet and looks like rain for the next week or two but wow in the mid 50's here in january! BIZARRE~ the snow is pretty but Id rather not deal with it when you have horses for very long.. if we lose power we don't have water since were on wells here... then it becomes a problem with 7 horses..
love the photos though! she is so pretty! I jealous! my mare is nasty .. if she was sweet Id sure be alot happier.. now to find someone to train her more in spring..lol she is just barley green broke to ride.. good ground training and ground driving but has only been ridden a few times..
